Twisting and shouting “Thanks!”

Posted by Jennifer Talbott, social media (and Twister Party!) intern

On November 18, some Very Special Playmates joined us on a rooftop in Oakland to play a giant game of Twister! This was not only a reward for backers of our Kickstarter campaign, it was also our way of thanking all the fabulous folks who supported us. As a recent addition to the Seriously! team, it was wonderful for me to meet so many people who believe in the project and in the power of play.

Our giant (12′ x 15′), custom Twister mat took four of us four hours to hand paint–and it was worth every second, since it gave 20 of us plenty of room to twist.

There were some serious (and not so serious) competitors, presided over by an avian referee and plenty of play-by-play commentators. Four triumphant Twisters outlasted the rest and collected some fun awards: the slinkiest Twister won a HUGE oversized slinky, and the three other tireless Twisters won frisbees autographed by Gary Auerbach, world freestyle frisbee champion. (They disappeared to play frisbee for the rest of the party.) In the end everyone ended in a pile of limbs and laughter–which is the point, after all!

It was no coincidence that the Party took place the weekend before Thanksgiving, because we honestly couldn’t think of a better way to say thanks to our supporters than by photographing them in some seriously compromising and extremely amusing positions. That may have had something to do with the fact that Gwen, our demonic director and Twister spinner started calling out directions like “Left ear on blue, right hand on somebody’s left knee, belly button on yellow.” Talk about “no part left behind”–even your behind wasn’t left behind.

We wish you all could have been there (unfortunately one rooftop can only hold so many people)–but in the spirit of the season, we want to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for your support. And if you’re looking for a way to work off some of those pounds after a big holiday meal, nothing brings people together faster than right foot yellow, left hand green and your nephew’s knee in your face!

Check out this fun video created by our team–and thanks to everyone who shared photos!

P.S. You can find more photos from the party on our Facebook page, along with lots of other fun stories!
